Discussions on bill for privileges to Ex-VVIPs

Kathmandu, Sept 7: The State Affairs Committee (SAC) under the Legislature-Parliament has today begun discussions in principles on the bill drafted regarding the privileges to Ex-VVIPs. Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma had briefed the meeting regarding the provisions of the bill to provide the privileges to former VVIPs. The bill under discussion proposes Rs 200,000 a month for house rent, Rs 50,000 for monthly allowance and Rs 25,000 for vehicle repair for the former President. Similarly, the bill proposes Rs 75,000 for house rent, Rs 40,000 as monthly allowance, Rs 25,000 for vehicle repair for former Vice-President.  Likewise, former Prime Ministers, former speakers and former National Assembly chairpersons will also receive Rs 75,000 for house rent, Rs 25,000 for vehicle repair.  Registering an amendment to the Bill, lawmakers Rajib Bikram Shah and...

1st Int Business Women's Summit to be held on 11 Sept

WB to invest approx Rs 20 billion in Urlabari

Urlabari, Sept 3: The World Bank is expected to invest approximately Rs 20 billion in various development projects in Urlabari Municipality. The Bank is making this much of investment in strategic projects for the long-term development of the municipality. The investment would come through the Ministry of Urban Development. Urlabari Municipality is among the four cities in eastern Nepal the Ministry had selected to be developed as the model cities. The Municipality has proposed 20 different plans under the World Bank financed development projects. Surya Kiran XII joint military exercise begins

Kathmandu, Sept 3: Nepal-India joint military exercise Surya Kiran XII began at Nepali Army Battle School at Saljhandi in Rupandehi from Sunday.  Mid-Western Division Chief, Major General Rajendra Karki inaugurated the exercise. Lieutenant Colonel Jayendra KC from Nepali Army and Colonel Lalit Mohan Mishra from Indian Army have been leading the joint military exercise. Some 600 army personnel from Nepal and India are participating in the exercise that will conclude on September 16. The exercise initiated from 2067 BS is alternatively conducted in Nepal and India every year. PM Deuba directs to develop DPR in Nepal's favour

Kathmandu, Sept 3/ Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the concerned authorities to develop the detail project report of the Pancheswar Multi-purpose Project in the interest of the nation. Talking to the representatives of stakeholder bodies at his office in Singha Durbar today, the Prime Minister directed them to develop the DPR with the burden of cost as per the utility of the project, according to his media expert Govinda Pariyar. Home Ministry of Nepal transfers 44 CDOs

Kathmandu, Aug. 24: The Home Ministry on Thursday transferred 44 Chief District Officers (CDOs). The Ministry transferred 13 CDOs of Gazetted First Class and 31 others Gazetted Second Class.  As per the decision, Chakra Bahadur Budha has been transferred as CDO of Makawanpur, Ashman Tamang in Sindhupalchowk, Sitaram Karki in Surkhet, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai in Bardiya, Mahadev Pantha in Lalitpur, Bishnu Pokhrel in Ilam and Bishnu Bahadur Thapa in Baglung in the capacity of CDOs.  Likewise, Chandra Man Shrestha and Madan Bhujel are made the CDOs of Udayapur and Kapilbastu, respectively.  Similarly, Hari Sharan Pudasaini is made the chief of Management Division of the Ministry while Bishnu Prasad Dhakal is transferred to the Police Record Management Department.RSS  ...

Rajbiraj (Saptari), Aug 24: Around 2,060 flood victims have received relief materials in Rajbiraj Municipality-9 in Saptari.  A local organisation Aasaman Nepal handed out relief materials to around 560 flood victims in collaboration with an organisation World Wield Consultant and People In Lead amid a programme in the district on Wednesday. Kathmandu, Aug 24: The 'Teej' festival, also called 'Haritalika', is being observed by Nepali Hindu women today throughout the country. Women fast and wish for a prosperous life of their spouse on this festival which falls on the third dark day of the lunar month according to Nepali month of Bhadau.  Women rejoice with various delicious dishes known as 'Dar' a day before 'Teej' and fast on the next day as per the tradition. The three-day festivity begins with 'Dar' on the second day of the fortnight in the month of Bhadau and is marked with fasting and cultural programs next day.  Women on this day take ritual baths in the morning and offer worship while in the evening.
